It is a little after 3:00 pm Saturday as I start to type. Normally by now, I would be out in the pits watching the teams as they make last-minute preparations for knockout qualifying. Instead, I am sitting in the cool and dry media center, as all track activity is on an indefinite hold.

Day Two at the Music City Grand Prix

Welcome to a hot and steamy Big Machine Music City Grand Prix. We caught a break yesterday with the weather, with mostly overcast skies. I think the high yesterday was 84°, but it was still very humid. While driving in this morning, my car said it was 91° at 10:30 am. There is no telling how miserable it will be for qualifying mid-afternoon.

A Surprise Leader for Practice One

Earlier today,I referenced how Josef Newgarden and Team Penske did not perform well at this race last year. I also mentioned that they have turned things around for 2022. That was certainly the case today, as Team Penske finished Practice One with all of their cars in the Top Seven. Scott McLaughlin finished fourth, hometown driver Josef Newgarden was fifth and Will Power was seventh.

Nashville Preview

It’s finally time for the second annual Big Machine Music City Grand Prix. For the second year in a row, the streets of downtown Nashville will come to life this morning with the sounds of race cars and live music. Looking at the weekend schedule, it looks as if there will be an ample supply of both in our hometown. Track activity starts this morning with practice for the Trans-Am Series.
