As promised, I am posting a few of the interesting photos from today’s Open Test at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. I took a few videos as well, but to be honest, I don’t have time to load them up onto You Tube and post them here. If you follow me on Twitter or Facebook, you saw where I posted them.

When IndyCar scheduled the Open Test at IMS for Tuesday March 27, I was not happy. I thought that the test should be conducted on a weekend so that fans that lived out of town (like me) could go and get a little taste of May in March. As luck would have it, that test was postponed due to a horrible forecast for that entire week. The forecast turned out to be accurate. The postponement date was today Monday April 30.

Rain or shine, it really didn’t matter to Josef Newgarden. The pole-sitter for this past weekend’s Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama took control from the very start in Sunday’s downpour. When the race resumed in dry conditions yesterday, he checked out again. He was the first to pit for wet tires, when the rain returned yesterday with fourteen minutes remaining. It turned out to be the right call as he opened up a twenty-three second lead over Ryan Hunter-Reay before slowing down in the closing laps to preserve a well-earned victory.

Greetings from an already wet Barber Motorsports Park. It was a cloudy and ominous sky when we left the hotel. Within five minutes, it was raining. Fortunately, it had stopped as we made our way from the parking lot into the Media Center, but it is a sign of what the day will be like – dodging raindrops. The current radar shows that we are currently in a pocket, but looking to the west – it looks bad.
