Back in the Land of the Living

Yesterday was a strange day for me. I woke up and my legs didn’t want to work right. I have neuropathy in my feet and apparently when I’m tired, it is amplified. I made it through getting acquainted with the track again, but couldn’t really make it through the day, so George took me to the hotel and I had four blissful hours of much-needed sleep.

Barber Qualifying

There is a reason that I don’t do this for my day job. In my last post, I said you could count on Romain Grosjean, Colton Herta and Scott McLaughlin to make the Firestone Fast Six. I said that based on their consistency going from Practice One on Friday, to Practice Two this morning. As usual, I was wrong.

It’s Day Two at Barber

Belated Day Two greetings from Barber Motorsports Park! Susan is feeling much, much better today; but we took it easy at the hotel this morning and didn’t arrive to the track until around 9:00 – just as Practice Two began. We dropped our stuff off at the media center and then headed out to the pits.

Good morning from beautiful Barber Motorsports Park! Susan and I actually drove down last night. We’ve known for a week or so, that Sunday was sold out here. I saw this morning that Saturday has sold out as well.

Barber Preview

As you read this, Mrs. Oilpressure and I are on our way to Barber Motorsports Park, near Birmingham, for the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama. Excluding the COVID-cancelled race in 2020, the NTT IndyCar Series has been coming to Barber every year since 2010. Consequently, we have been coming every year as well – including the Spring Training they held at Barber in March of 2009.

Remembering Ted Prappas

Chances are, if you saw a story over the past weekend pertaining to the death of Ted Prappas – a lot of you may have said “Who?” Unless you are over fifty and an IndyCar die-hard, there is a good chance you would not have heard of Prappas. He was not in the public eye for very long, but if you knew about him – you know he is the type of driver that Donald Davidson loves to talk about.
