This past Monday, an infamous anniversary came and went with little or no mention. Monday October 28 marked the one-year anniversary of the unceremonious firing of former IndyCar CEO Randy Bernard. I believe in looking forward and not dwelling on the past, but I’ll admit I pondered the question of what might have been, had Randy Bernard been left to continue his work.

We finally arrived safely back into the real world from our California odyssey in the wee hours of Tuesday morning. After four hours sleep, it was back to the grind. As I type Tuesday night, I’ll have to admit that we have not watched one minute of the DVR replay. I think by now, we’ve all pretty well dissected Saturday night’s race enough that any “Random Comments” would be stale by this point.

First of all, I apologize for not having anything up here this morning as promised. I’ve already heard from a few people on Twitter that there was nothing there this morning. There’s a good excuse for that. When we finally got back to the room, I was simply too tired to post anything last night. It’s been an incredible weekend here in Los Angeles, but sadly it comes to an end today. The weather has been picture perfect here until today, appropriately enough. Some thought it was riveting, while others found it dreadful. It’s a very interesting mix of reactions. I can promise you – to those of us that were lucky enough to be there in person, the verdict was unanimous. It was an outstanding race.

Well, that was interesting. I’m not sure how it played out on television, but it was an outstanding event to attend in person.

Well, it’s been a pretty typical race day afternoon. There has been a good crowd milling around in the garage area and a few driver sightings here and there.

A Spin Around Fontana

Good afternoon from Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, CA. It’s race day. More precisely, it’s the day of the night race here. IndyCar officials have announced that the start of the race will be moved back to 6:10 PDT to allow the sun to drop below the horizon and not blind the drivers going down the backstretch.
