The 106th Running of the Indianapolis 500 is now in the books. As we all know, it is the first time full-capacity has been allowed since 2019. It is also the first time that a full-scale Indianapolis 500 has been run under Roger Penske’s ownership. There have been a lot of changes, both for the better and some not so much.

Marcus Ericsson is making a habit of this. He now has three wins in the NTT IndyCar Series, and all three of them have come under strange circumstances, misfortune to other drivers and being at the right place in the right time. And all three wins have also come after a mi-race red flag.

Welcome to a still dark Indianapolis Motor Speedway. My goal is always to be inside the gates before the opening bomb goes off at 6:00 am. It has been a few years since that didn’t happen and I met the goal again this morning. I was at the Media Center at 5:40 am.

Indianapolis 500 Preview

Life can throw curveballs sometimes. I didn’t really go into much detail about it, but Susan did not do well at IMS for Qualifications last weekend. Her health has deteriorated since January and has been in a steep decline since April. Her problem is fatigue and now weakness. She overdid it on Fast Friday and stayed at the hotel all day Saturday. She sat in the media center all day Sunday, mostly with her head on her desk.

We Have a Winner!

The questions for the Indianapolis 500 Trivia Contest were posted here two weeks ago. Normally few answers trickled in over the first ten days or so, but there was also the stream of those that waited until the last thirty minutes to get their answers in. I remember about five or six years ago, the winning entry came in with four minutes to spare.

Roadsters 2 Records

If you plan to be at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway this weekend, you’ll want to check out the IMS Museum. That has been a tradition in our family for the last couple of decades. I always have at least one of my two brothers come to the race each season, they both have tickets very close to my section in Stand A – the section we sat in growing up in the sixties and seventies. Sometimes both brothers come to the race, but I’m not sure that has happened since 2018.
