Next season looks like a definite year of change. For someone like me that thinks change is bad, that can be a scary thing. Not only is there a new single broadcast partner in NBC that will be covering the Indianapolis 500 for the first time, there will be other changes.

Last week, I was listening to Trackside. Early on, Curt Cavin and Kevin Lee were talking about NBC’s Month of May coverage and how maybe they could broadcast more of Indianapolis 500 qualifying than ABC had for the past few years; or if qualifying should be tweaked to protect the fulltime drivers. In my mind, I took it a step further. I sent a question to Kevin via Twitter that asked “What are the chances that NBC will restore order to the universe and ask that Pole Day be moved back to Saturday and Bump Day back to Sunday?”

We’ve reached that time of year again to push away from the mundane things in life and pause to think about what we are thankful for. For me, it’s been anther great year to pursue my passion and hobby by going to IndyCar races and relaying my experiences to all of you here. I am very lucky to have a wife who shares my passion and is able to be with me while I do this. This blogging adventure would not be near as fun without Susan along for the ride.
And What A Weekend It Was!

Sometimes you look forward to a weekend and hype it up so much in your mind, that it inevitably falls a little short of expectations. That did not apply to this past weekend. Of course, the original reason for this trip was the Titans-Colts game – but that didn’t work out so well. Even with a horribly embarrassing performance by the Titans, it was still a great weekend.

If you’ve been a regular visitor to this site, you know that two of my biggest passions are IndyCar racing and football. To be even more specific; when it comes to IndyCar racing, I am most passionate about the Indianapolis 500 and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. While I enjoy attending and watching all of the races on the IndyCar schedule, I won’t kid anyone – the Indianapolis 500 is what triggered my interest in this sport when I was six years old.
More Questions Than Answers With Alonso

Although it never really went away, Alonso-mania is back. Over this past weekend, Fernando Alonso confirmed what many of us had strongly suspected – that he will return to run in the 103rd Running of the Indianapolis 500 next May. While some had speculated that Alonso would run the entire IndyCar season, I never thought that would be the case. Once Alonso squashed those dreams by some, the experts said that he would not run the “500” next May. Given the fact that I’m not an expert – I predicted that we would see Alonso in a car next May. I don’t mean to pat myself on the back, but…OK, yeah…I really do.
How Veterans Shaped The Indianapolis 500

Yesterday was Veterans Day in the US. Today is the day that it is observed, but it was really yesterday. It is one of the few holidays left that has not morphed into a Monday three-day weekend holiday, such as MLK Day, President’s Day, Columbus Day and of course Memorial Day. Christmas Day, New Year’s Day and Independence Day are about the only other ones left that are celebrated no matter which day of the week they fall on. The only reason we are observing it today is that it fell over the weekend. The actual celebration was yesterday, but many offices are closed today in observance of the holiday.
