The Simplicity Of IndyCar

Although it rained throughout most of the event, I thoroughly enjoyed watching the Rolex24 from Daytona this weekend. Not only was it good to see a good representation of current, former and perhaps future drivers from the Verizon IndyCar Series – it was just nice to see racing again. Congrats to Wayne Taylor Racing, and Jeff Gordon in particular, for their win. Another tip of the hat to Chip Ganassi Racing and Sébastien Bourdais for their winning effort in their Ford GT.

With the exception of the possibility that funding may not come through for Mikhail Aleshin; it appears that the full-time grid is now set for the Verizon IndyCar Series 2017 season. When Spencer Pigot was confirmed for the non-oval portion for Ed Carpenter’s No.20 car, the last available seat was filled.

When It Rains, It Pours

As is usually the case, news has begun to pour out of the Verizon IndyCar Series now that the holidays are way behind us. Fortunately for Curt Cavin and Kevin Lee – our friends on Trackside – the news always pours out on Tuesday’s, the normal night for their weekly show to air so they can discuss the news items almost as soon as they happen. They always joke that it happens that way; but it is so frequent, I’m beginning to think there is some truth to it.

Something To Whet Our Appetites

Last October, we learned that the Verizon IndyCar Series had decided to make radical changes to the looks of the DW12 when the new common bodywork went into effect in 2018. Radical may be considered too dramatic of a word for some, but when you’re talking about making a DW12 look sexy – to me, that’s radical.
