The start of the season for the NTT IndyCar Series is upon us. It is finally Race Week, with the season-opening race at St. Petersburg this weekend. Last Friday night, there was a fan-celebration at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway to commemorate the fact that it was exactly 100 days until the 107th Running of the Indianapolis 500. Fans were treated to food and refreshments, as well as a program consisting of driver interviews with several key drivers. The evening was topped off with a fireworks display.
Why I’m Happy Being an IndyCar Fan

I have been an IndyCar fan since I went to my first race – the 1965 Indianapolis 500. I was already hooked as a fan before I actually arrived at IMS that weekend, but my experience that day just confirmed what I was already expecting and I was hooked for life. I don’t really need any reaffirmation or reminders about why I love the NTT IndyCar Series, but if I did – I got it this past weekend.

I have never considered myself to be a controversial person. I don’t usually go through life trying to ruffle feathers every step of the way. However, I’ve never denied the fact that I can be very petty, vindictive and still somewhat immature. You would think someone in their mid-sixties would have grown out of such childish traits, but unfortunately I have not fully.
Things Don’t Always Work Out Perfectly

There are ten drivers who ran the entire fourteen-race Indy Lights (now known as Indy NXT) schedule last year. Two of them have secured fulltime rides in the NTT IndyCar Series as rookies for 2023 – Benjamin Pedersen and Sting Ray Robb. The notable omission from that list of two drivers is the 2022 Indy lights champion, Linus Lundqvist.
At Least One More Shot

Yesterday, we learned that British driver Katherine Legge has been named to drive the No. 44 Hendrickson Honda for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing (RLLR) in this year’s Indianapolis 500. According to the press release, Hendrickson is “a leading global manufacturer of suspension systems and components in the commercial transportation industry”.
