Back in the Land of the Living
Yesterday was a strange day for me. I woke up and my legs didn’t want to work right. I have neuropathy in my feet and apparently when I’m tired, it is amplified. I made it through getting acquainted with the track again, but couldn’t really make it through the day, so George took me to the hotel and I had four blissful hours of much-needed sleep.
George kept trying to call me and I didn’t even hear the phone. I think I scared George because I didn’t even wake up when he got to the room. We enjoyed a dinner of Whataburger and went back to sleep. I felt so much better this morning, but I’m still going slow. I need to get out and walk around before the temperature reaches the high 90s to build up my race stamina–we have a bunch of races coming up and I’d better get in shape. My muscle mass is gone–that’s the first thing chemo takes from you.
Today has been much better–there has been a lot to do with 2 practices and qualifying. The weather is perfect–juts the right temperature with a nice breeze blowing. I can’t remember more pleasant weather for the Honda Indy GP of Alabama. I’ve been trying to get back in the groove of taking photos again, but I started that like a moron–I forgot to charge my camera battery. But I felt like I got some good photos for qualifying and I was going to get great ones at the last practice session; but then I left my camera battery sitting in the charger. Oh well, it will be charged up for tomorrow.
Thank you to the many people who have asked about me–I really appreciate it. I’m still getting used to what physical abilities are now. I’ve never tried acupuncture–I may try it.

Susan,
Enjoy the Race tomorrow, but take care not to push too hard. Kathy and I are praying for you and you’ve got this.
