Good morning (afternoon) from a hot and muggy Indianapolis Motor Speedway. We were not here for the start of practice. We met Paul Dalbey and his son, Jackson, at Charlie Brown’s this morning for breakfast. Unfortunately, a lot of race fans had the same idea. We had to wait for our table, but it was well worth the wait. As we were in the parking lot, we could hear the cars on track for the start of the first practice.

High Drama on Day One

Twelve Years and Counting

Every time we come to IMS, at some point I find myself looking up at the suite just south of Gasoline Alley where George and I were married in 2012. It is even more meaningful to me today, because today is our wedding anniversary. 12 years ago today, George and I finally joined our lives together at probably our favorite place on earth—the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

It’s Qualifying Day for the Indianapolis 500

Good morning from what was a fog-encased Indianapolis Motor Speedway earlier this morning. When I looked out the window of our hotel, I was having trouble seeing cars in the parking lot. I figured they would delay the 8:30 am practice, and they did – by about thirty minutes.

Fast Friday Wrap-Up

We finally ended up with a day where everyone’s full attention was on the track, instead of the weather apps. For the first time all week, we finally had a day not interrupted by weather. If there was a day for that to happen, this was it.

After a very disjointed week of practice due to weather, Fast Friday promises to be just as disjointed. Tuesday’s practice started at 9:00 am, and lasted for 26 minutes before it was halted by rain. Not another lap was turned for the rest of the day.
