Where do I begin?
It’s been roughly forty-eight hours since we learned that Roger Penske has purchased the NTT IndyCar Series and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway from the Hulman-George family. But even after a couple of days, I’m still having a little trouble sorting all of this out in my head.
After nearly three months, Paul Dalbey of Fieldof33.com and I got together again via Skype to discuss what has been going on in the world of the NTT IndyCar Series – with our video series Two Sites Unite. To say this is old-school technology would be an understatement.
I have tried my best to write about other topics this offseason, but the gift that keeps on giving has given us more to talk about. Arrow McLaren SP cannot seem to get out of their own way when it comes to negative publicity. Every time we look up, it seems that the newly renamed team has stepped in it yet again.
Some will wonder why I’m not writing about McLaren and James Hinchcliffe parting ways today. Trust me, I will discuss that on Friday. But I felt like it was important to stay with the topic I already had planned for today – GP
As most of you know, tomorrow will mark the twentieth anniversary of when Greg Moore was fatally injured at Fontana. I was able to keep up with the events of the weekend through my primitive 1999 dial-up internet, and I was well-aware that Moore had been involved in an accident in the parking lot over the weekend, when he suffered a broken hand.
This past Thursday, Roger Penske was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Trump. It is considered the highest national honor to be bestowed on a civilian.

I’ve written here before about my oldest son, Eric. He has been going to Indy with us every single year since 2004. George converted him to an IndyCar fan at an early age and he still is one today.
First of all, get your mind out of the gutter. I’m talking about race teams, not whatever entered your filthy mind when you read the title of this post. This past weekend, David Malsher of Motorsport.com wrote a very interesting article on an interview he had with Trevor Carlin, whose team entered the NTT IndyCar Series two seasons ago.
