Qualifying is complete for the 2022 Bommarito automotive Group 500, and the historic significance can’t be overlooked. Will Power won the pole and with the bonus point, extends his lead over Scott Dixon to seven. But by winning another pole, Power tied Mario Andretti’s long-standing record of 67 IndyCar poles, that was set at Michigan in 1993.

Practice One is in the Books

To say Practice One went of without hitch is technically correct, but I saw a few drivers sliding through the turns as I watched from both ends of the track from the infield. But no drivers made contact with the wall or each other, so it was technically a success.

Good morning (barely) from Worldwide Technology Raceway. By the time I checked into my hotel, checked in for my parking pass and got situated in the media center, it is less than ten minutes before the first IndyCar practice – so I’ll be brief.

If you are reading this on Friday morning, I am headed to World Wide Technology Raceway (WWTR – formerly known as Gateway) in Madison, Illinois, for the Bommarito Automotive Group 500. Pressdog, My Name is IRL, Planet IRL and Roy Hobson’s The Silent Pagoda all seemed to have a huge following with their outlandish takes and clever writings. I knew all of the facts and I had the passion, but I never thought I could match them with their wit.

Looking Beyond the Box Score

I’ve made it no secret this season that I have become a big fan of Kyle Kirkwood. Part of that is because he drives for such an underdog team, but part of it is also because I’ve grown to like him in interviews and the way he drives a race car.

Scott Dixon was still in the post-race press conference last night, and the Legions of the Miserable were out in full force on social media. “That was not IndyCar”,  “This was a sh**show” and “Circus” were all reflective of what people were saying while Dixon was still talking about what a great win it was.
