Good Morning From Road America

Welcome to a warm and sunny Road America in beautiful Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. It is much more pleasant today (Saturday) than yesterday. Friday, it was breezy and we were wearing sweatshirts. Today I’m in a polo and even have a pair of shorts on standby in the car.

Road America Friday Wrap-Up

Although the three Team Penske cars make up the Top-Five, it doesn’t quite feel like they are dominating as much as they did last year. If you’ll recall, the four Penske cars took the first four spots in qualifying but did not win the race. That honor went to Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon.

Welcome to a cloudy and cool Road America. It is currently 65-degrees, but with a good breeze and no sun – it’s a little on the chilly side. But considering it was 96-degrees last weekend in Nashville, it’s a welcomed change.

As most of you are reading this, we are probably in the Milwaukee airport getting our rental car for the weekend. Lack of vacation time due to job changes have forced us to fly to Road America this summer, rather than driving as we normally do – thereby saving a couple of days of our scarce vacation time.

Leave It To The Professionals

In the month of June, there have been a couple of incidents take place that have been glossed over with humor but have a serious undertone. On Sunday June 3, GM executive Mark Reuss crashed the IndyCar Pace Car at Belle Isle just after leaving the pits as he was about to lead the twenty-four cars to the green flag for the second of two races in the Chevrolet Grand Prix of Detroit. It was a hard hit but Reuss and his passenger, IndyCar official Mark Sandy, walked away shaken but uninjured.
