Welcome To Road America

Welcome to a cloudy and cool Road America. It is currently 65-degrees, but with a good breeze and no sun – it’s a little on the chilly side. But considering it was 96-degrees last weekend in Nashville, it’s a welcomed change.

Our trip up went pretty much according to plan. It was raining when we left Nashville and raining when we landed in Milwaukee. It sprinkled some on the way to the track this morning, but it had stopped before we got here. The forecast calls for a small chance for some light showers today but nothing major. After today there is no more mention of rain in the weekend forecast – and a bit warmer, with temps in the low seventies.

As we arrived, the Indy Lights cars were on track. As I type, that practice has ended. The Verizon IndyCar Series practice is at 11:00 CDT, so we are going to head out to the paddock and see what’s going on before practice. After practice ends at 11:45, we are going to ride around the golf cart and check out our favorite spots and grab a brat or two for lunch. Practice Two gets underway at 3:15 CDT and runs until 4:15. After that will be pit stop practice which will last until 4:40.

Of course, the various Mazda Road to Indy cars will be on track all day along with the Pirelli World Challenge and the Mazda MX-V Cup series that are all here this weekend; guaranteeing cars on-track throughout daylight hours virtually all weekend long.

I’ll be back late this afternoon with a wrap-up and photos. In the meantime, please follow me on Twitter at @Oilpressureblog or Susan at @MrsOilpressure for instant comments, photos and videos throughout the weekend. Please check back later this afternoon.

Make sure to catch those Global MX5 Cup races. I’ve watched all of their races this season and they are hands down the best racing I’ve seen all year. Those guys are fantastic to watch. You can catch their previous races on YouTube, I believe they’re on the Mazda channel.

I am currently (1/23 PM Friday) watching the MX5 race. I was not familiar with the MX5 series. Looks like exciting racing. Thanks for the recommendation.
