The field is now set for the 2016 ABC Supply 500. Mikhail Aleshin won his first career pole with a two-lap average speed of 220.445 mph. That completes a strong run for Honda, who put five cars into the Top-Seven spots on the grid. Josef Newgarden put his Chevy powered car from Ed Carpenter Racing on the outside of the front row and Helio Castroneves will start fourth as the only other Chevy driver in the Top-Five.

Practice One is in the books at Pocono Raceway. First the bad…There were three incidents which brought out yellow flags. Early on, Ryan Hunter-Reay had the rear-end of his car whip around on him and he had a hard hit into the outside wall of Turn One. His car hinted at going all the way over before coming to a stop against the inside retaining wall. He was uninjured, but the same cannot be said for his DHL machine. He will be forced to go to his backup car for the remainder of the weekend.
Welcome To Pocono Raceway

Good morning from Pocono Raceway. This is my first visit to the Tricky Triangle and so far, it lives up to expectations. The scenery here is gorgeous. Once we entered western Pennsylvania, the scenery became prettier each mile we drove. By the time we hit the Poconos, it looked like something off of a post card (remember those?).
Pocono Preview

As you read this, I am well on my way to Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, Pennsylvania. My plan was to leave Nashville at 4:00 this morning. Susan is sitting this one out due to her not having that much vacation time left with her job. So, I’m heading to Indianapolis and meeting up with our good friend Paul Dalbey of More Front Wing, who will be coming from his home in Illinois. From there, we’ll be riding together in my Honda which gets better mileage that his car. We’ll head across Ohio and most of Pennsylvania until we arrive at Pocono around dinner time this evening.
The Sensations Of Racing

This weekend, I’m heading to Pocono Raceway for the ABC Supply 500. Unfortunately, I won’t have Susan with me on this trip. She is just about out of vacation time, so she is sitting this one out. This will be my first visit to The Tricky Triangle, but this will be the sixth Verizon IndyCar event weekend I’ve been to this season (counting Indianapolis 500 qualifying as an event).

Last weekend, Susan and I were treated to another visit by our good friend Paul Dalbey, formerly of More Front Wing. Last year, Paul came down about this same time and stayed with us. This year, he brought his (much) better-half – his girlfriend Kelli. Suffice it to say that Kelli’s presence made Paul’s visit much more enjoyable for us this year.
