Good morning from an absolutely gorgeous Barber Motorsports Park. Not only is the facility its usual gorgeous self, but you could not ask for a better day weather-wise. There is not a cloud in the sky and it is supposed to stay that way through the rest of the race weekend. the high today is supposed to be 78-degrees. Tomorrow’s high is expected to reach 82, without a cloud in sight.

So, we are now two practices in and Honda is still showing signs of life. What’s even more astounding is that the two cars of AJ Foyt Enterprises were both at the top of the speed charts for the session and the day. Takuma Sato turned a lap at 1:07.2157 and Jack Hawksworth was just slightly behind at 1:07.2197. It looks as if the changes that Foyt made on the Hawksworth team during the week have worked. James Hinchcliffe completed the Honda trifecta for the second session.

Although it was a stress-free trip, it was nice to be greeted by this sign.

As you read this, we are on our way to Birmingham. Actually, there’s a slight change this year. Susan has been working in Alabama all week, so I will be driving down alone and meeting her at the track. The good thing about traveling alone means that when I plan to leave at 6:00, I can actually leave at 6:00 instead of 7:45. Hopefully, she won’t read what I just wrote.

Don’t look now, but after this weekend the 2016 Verizon IndyCar Series season will be at the end of its first quarter. The Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama will be the fourth in a sixteen race season. It seems like the season just started.

Random Thoughts On Long Beach

There’s a reason that I want to attend the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach in person one day. That’s because the race is sometimes so boring to watch on TV, it’s got to be much better to be there in person, doesn’t it? Yesterday’s race was one of those races.
