The second annual Angie’s List Grand Prix of Indianapolis is now in the books. Was it a classic? No. Was it the most boring parade of cars I’ve ever seen? Not really, but it was closer to that than a classic. At least from the Tower Terrace stands where we sat for the entire race. Maybe it looked better on television.

Good morning from a currently dry Indianapolis Motor Speedway, where we are preparing for the Angie’s List Grand Prix of Indianapolis. If the weather reports are correct, it won’t be that way through the whole day. There is an ominous darkness to the west that appears to be slowly engulfing The Speedway.
Chevy Sweeps Qualifying For GP Of Indy

The Angie’s List Grand Prix of Indianapolis will have an American feel to it as Chevy dominated qualifying today. From the very beginning, it was Chevy’s day. The first group of the first round of qualifying saw no Honda transfer to the second round. In Group Two, the Honda of Jack Hawksworth was the only one to advance into the second round.

Welcome to a busy Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Although our goal was to be here for the morning practice at 11:00, that…um, didn’t happen. We checked into our usual hotel and arrived at the track about 1:45 local time. In less than an hour, the IndyCars will qualify for tomorrow’s Angie’s List Grand Prix of Indianapolis.

As you read this, Susan and I are (hopefully) en route to our second of four weekends at IMS. Practice for the Angie’s List Grand Prix of Indianapolis was yesterday. After another practice this morning from 11:00 to 11:45 for the Verizon IndyCar Series, qualifying will take place this afternoon at 3:00. Of course, the race for IndyCars will take place tomorrow at 3:50.
A Smart And Nice Way To Salute A Career

Last week, we learned that Jeff Gordon will be driving the pace car for the 99th Running of the Indianapolis 500 later this month. When I saw it, my first reaction was that it was a great idea. I thought it was a very nice salute to a great driver and an outstanding career. I realized just how wrong I must have been after checking the fan response on social media. There were the tirades from the usual grumps, but I also saw complaints from many whose opinions I have a great amount of respect for. On Trackside the other night, Curt Cavin said that he didn’t see many complaints. I did.
