It’s tough to come up with IndyCar-related content during the offseason. Believe me, I know that more than anyone. I just had a post a couple of days ago about cord-cutting from cable, so I appreciate any efforts to stay on topic during the offseason.

One thing that has sort of gone under the radar this IndyCar offseason is the TV contract that expires at the end of next season. To be honest, I had forgotten about it until Marshall Pruett of Racer.com posted an article about it this past Tuesday.

Once again, we have reached the time of year to reflect on what we are most thankful for. First of all, I am thankful that I have been able to maintain this site over the past fourteen and a half years. It is still something I enjoy, mostly from the comments, e-mails and texts I receive from everyone that comes here three times a week. I’ve always said that this site may not have the most readers; but those that come here are among the most knowledgeable, most civilized and most loyal IndyCar fans out there. It’s rare that readers argue, get unruly or troll this site. I am very grateful for that.

In motorsports, they say first-time events always have a few kinks to work out. We’ve certainly seen that regarding the NTT IndyCar Series. The Music City Grand Prix comes to mind. The first two years of the event saw weather combined with a way-too-tight circuit, play havoc with the event. The race itself produced multiple cautions in the first two years, forcing Marshall Pruett of Racer.com to call the first-year event a sh**show.

I pay attention to it because Dobbs played quarterback or my alma mater, the University of Tennessee from 2013 to 2016. Dobbs was a winner and had an incredible career for the Vols. But he was slight of stature, and the book on him said he was one of those great QBs that would never make it in the NFL.
