We’ve known for a while now that the TV rights package for the NTT IndyCar Series would be up for bid this season. NBC’s current contract runs out after the end of the 2024 IndyCar season. NBC has been the exclusive broadcast partner for IndyCar since the start of the 2019 season. NBC signed a three-year deal initially. That contract was set to expire at the end of the 2021 season, but a new deal was announced in July of 2021 – extending NBC through the 2024 season.

Since last week’s announcement that the 2024 season finale for the NTT IndyCar Series has been moved from the streets of downtown Nashville to Nashville Superspeedway; I’ve received many calls, texts and e-mails asking me where to stay. Athletes can suffer the strangest injuries, away from their respective playing surface. Patriots wide-receiver Irving Fryar severely cut his hand, supposedly while fumbling around in a knife-drawer the week of the AFC Championship following the 1985 season, as his team was preparing to face the Miami Dolphins for a berth in Super Bowl XX. There was a cloud of suspicion surrounding the circumstances, and it was later determined he suffered the laceration in a domestic dispute with his pregnant wife. Regardless of how it happened, it caused Fryar to miss the game. The Patriots won the game without him, only to be trounced by the famous 1985 Chicago Bears.

Several times before, I’ve mentioned here how much I enjoy the unveiling of new liveries. A couple of weeks ago, I detailed how we learned back in the early 90s, what new liveries we would be seeing for the upcoming year – mostly through the various motorsports magazines. I don’t think I’m the only one. Apparently, the teams and sponsors know how much we fans enjoy this; because they put together slick graphics that enhance the newest liveries. They also make sure to go on a social media campaign with photos and videos detailing the refreshed look of their car.

After two weeks of hype, Super Bowl LVIII will finally take place this weekend. Super Bowls are all about hype and everything being over-the-top, but with this Super Bowl taking place in Las Vegas – things seem to be even more amped up. One of the topics of conversation going into this Super Bowl is to see if the Kansas City Chiefs can win their third Super Bowl in the past five years. They are already in their fourth Super Bowl in the past five years, but they lost to Tom Brady and Tampa Bay after the 2020 season.
