Sometimes I will throw out a rhetorical question on here, then end up giving what I consider to be the correct answer. In short, I give my opinion. Here, I am asking a real question that I have no idea what the answer is. I am asking a direct question and seeking an answer from readers. It might help if some of our friends from across the pond were to chime in on this. I am hoping to hear from Oliver, Trevor and Matthew, who all live in the UK; as well as Yannick, who I believe lives in Germany. But I also expect that many that are stateside will chime in also – at least I hope so.

Loyalty is not prevalent in motorsports. I don’t care if you’re talking about IndyCar, Formula One, NASCAR, NHRA, IMSA or USAC. That goes for drivers, crew and team owners. It is rare to see anyone spend a lengthy career with the same team in racing, so we will get that out of the way in this discussion.
A Bright Spot in a Strange Season

I don’t think I will get much argument that this has been a strange IndyCar season, so far. It all started with David Malukas breaking his wrist before the season. Then Team Penske had two drivers disqualified from the season-opener that also vacated the win by Josef Newgarden. It wasn’t strange, but we had a back-to-back winner at the Indianapolis 500, when Josef Newgarden accomplished the feat for the first time since Helio Castroneves repeated in 2002.
Random Thoughts on Toronto

The Ontario Honda Dealers Indy Toronto has been known in the past to give some surprise results. Colton Herta winning on Sunday was certainly not a surprise. He won the pole and led every practice session. But based on where some drivers started yesterday, I was surprised to see some of them end up where they did.
Toronto Preview

The NTT IndyCar Series makes their one annual trip north of the border this weekend to hit the streets of Toronto. For years, this event was the Honda Indy Toronto; but this year it is the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy Toronto. I think it was always Honda of Canada that sponsored this race, but something obviously changed. I don’t really care what it is called, so long as they still have solid financial backing.

There is no denying that neither of the two races for the Hy-Vee IndyCar Weekend at Iowa Speedway were very compelling. The track repaved the corners adding a ton of grip. To take that into account, Firestone brought a new tire for the right side of the cars. IndyCar lowered downforce by about 10%. The result of all of these factors were two races where the drivers found it especially difficult to pass.
