What a great weekend of racing we witnessed this past weekend! Fears of a repeat of Iowa were sort of dispelled on Friday, when it was obvious that the upper and lower lines on the track were working. It didn’t take long into Race One for it to become obvious that we were going to be in for some good racing for the weekend. Saturday’s race went 83 laps before the first caution, and that was for a spin by Katherine Legge that did no damage to her car. Altogether there were only three cautions in Race One, and only one of those cautions produced car damage – the second caution for a crash between Josef Newgarden and Marcus Ericsson, who were both going after the same piece of real estate in Turn Two. The third caution was for a wheel that escaped from Colton Herta’s car on Lap 187. That was it. It was a very clean race.

If Saturday’s Race One of the Hy-Vee Milwaukee Mile 250s was fun, Sunday’s Race Two was downright crazy! I would say it was that way from the start, but it was actually that way before the start. Before the field could complete a single parade lap, I looked up at a video board in Turn One to see Alex Palou out of harm’s way of the rest of the field. From what I understand (you never hear what happened down in the pits), his battery had died.

Good morning from the Dairy State of Wisconsin! It’s Race Day II of the Hy-Vee Milwaukee Mile 250s. We really like this track. Not only is it very historic, it has aged well. Few things give away the fact that it is more than 120 years-old. The old covered wooden stands were demolished about 25 years ago, and held about half as many people. These modern stands are uncovered, but have nice amenities. All rows have backs like IMS, but the upper rows even have seats with individual backs with armrests – much like most current NFL stadiums.
Milwaukee Race One–Recap

Well, that was fun! I don’t know how it looked on television, but from where I was in the pits (and watching a couple of monitors) This was a very good race. I’m not sure where it stacks up against Gateway a couple of weeks ago, but it was certainly better than what we saw at Iowa last month. There were two passes for the lead before the first caution took place on Lap 83, when Katherine Legge spun coming out of Turn Two without hitting anything.
Milwaukee Qualifying

Qualifying for both races for the Hy-Vee 250s has now been set. For once, I was right in predicting that Team Penske would be strong at Milwaukee. Team Penske has locked up the front row in both races. Scott McLaughlin will start from the pole in Race One, with teammate Josef Newgarden alongside on the front row. For Sunday’s Race Two, the positions will be swapped as Newgarden will be on the pole, with McLaughlin in the second spot.

Milwaukee Mile–Day 2

Good Morning from The Milwaukee Mile. It is a beautiful 69° morning with hardly a cloud in the sky. For a Friday, the crowd was decent yesterday, but things are buzzing quite a bit more this morning. We are still an hour and a half away from Indy NXT qualifying, and qualifying for the NTT IndyCar Series begins at 1:15 pm local time (CDT). It will be shown on Peacock.
