I have been beating this drum for a while, but I continue to get pushback on it. I was listening to Trackside the other night, and heard Kevin Lee discussing an incident in the IMSA race at Road Atlanta the weekend before that involved Ricky Taylor. Essentially, a car spun in the darkness portion of the race, sitting in the middle of the track. IMSA Race Control elected to not throw a caution, so that everyone could get their pit stops in.

Math is not my subject. It never has been. My mother was a math whiz, and both of my brothers are mechanical engineers. I took more after my father. While I always considered him a brilliant man, I don’t think he was very good in math either. Algebra almost put me on probation during my freshman year in college. Accounting almost prevented me from graduating. To this day, looking at a spreadsheet filled with numbers makes my eyes glaze over and my head spin.
Speculation on the FOX Crew Grows

Did you happen to catch the Detroit Lions thrashing of the Dallas Cowboys on FOX this past Sunday? I will admit I did not. I was so disgusted from watching the Titans lose to the Colts, I took on other projects around the house. After watching my Tennessee Vols squeak by Florida in overtime, the night before; and then the anemic outing by the Titans – I decided I had seen enough football for the weekend.

Heading into the weekend, I wasn’t quite sure what I was going to write about for today. It was Friday night, and I wanted to get something done, since I had a full weekend planned for Saturday and Sunday. Saturday morning was to be spent stacking firewood; an annual ritual that is necessary, but one that I absolutely despise. I had yard work planned for Saturday afternoon, before getting cleaned up in time for the Florida-Tennessee football game. Sunday was to be spent watching the Titans hosting the visiting Colts (you have to be a fan to watch a game that bad). The Vols won an unexpected nail-biter in overtime, while the Titans did their usual late-game collapse.

Posted in IndyCar on October 9, 2024 by Oilpressure
One of the hallmarks of American motor racing is the flying start or some refer to it as a rolling start. If you’ve ever heard old broadcasts of the Indianapolis 500, you’ve heard chief announcer Sid Collins refer to the start of the 500 as “the world’s fastest flying start”. Flying starts are the norm in the US. Sprints, midgets, stock cars and Indy cars and everything in between, have always utilized the flying start.
Is a Dallas Street Race a Good Thing?

Although it won’t be officially announced until tomorrow (Tue Oct 8), it is widely accepted that the NTT IndyCar Series will stage a race sometime in the spring of 2026 in Dallas. It is presumed that Jerry Jones, owner of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys is involved and that the circuit will go around or be near AT&T Stadium – home of the Dallas Cowboys.
