Keep Memorial Day Weekend Open

For whatever reason, Fridays have always had very light traffic on this site. Even on race weekends, my “(Fill in the blank) Preview” posts go largely ignored. Imagine how small the readership is in the offseason. No, I’m not abandoning my Friday posts, but there is a good chance many of you missed my post this past Friday. It has relevance to what I am writing about today, so you may want to go back and read it.

Social media is full of a lot of garbage and meaningless posts. I don’t think I’ll get any argument from anyone on that point. A couple of days ago, the IndyCar on NBC Twitter account ran one of those tweets that are designed to keep up fan interest during the IndyCar offseason.

In those four weeks, I have already written two different posts involving Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing (RLLR). Today is the second time this week I’ve written about the team operated by the 1986 Indianapolis 500 winner and the three-time CART champion. One might think I am either obsessed with RLLR or have a vendetta against the team. I’ll assure you that neither is the case, but they have been in the news lately – so I thought I would offer up my thoughts on the latest headlines generated by the team, if anyone is interested.

With a few IndyCar seats to be filled for the 2022 season, there seems to be a lot of buzz going around regarding a very tired and worn-out topic – Will [Driver X] leave IndyCar for the greener pastures of Formula One?

As much as I enjoy this site, it was good to have some time away. As I mentioned last Friday, a lot of last week was devoted to spending time with my son, who flew in from Idaho to pick up my old 2012 Honda Civic so he could drive it back. He arrived on Tuesday and stayed until Friday.
