This post may get me in trouble with a few readers, so I’ll offer a blanket apology on the front-end. There have been a lot of perks that have come to me through this website over the years. I have almost unlimited access at any race track on the IndyCar schedule. I’ve gotten to tour the ESPN production truck on Race Morning at Indianapolis, had two-seater rides at Fontana and Indianapolis, taken pace car rides at Indianapolis, Pocono, St. Petersburg and Road America. Susan and I got to attend an after-party after the championship banquet one year, on the fourth-floor of The Pagoda. I even got to wave the green flag at Fontana for the qualifying run of Helio Castroneves.

Then a few days later, we traditionalists were teased with this article quoting Roger Penske talking about how IndyCar is looking to add more ovals to future schedules.

Although I’ve been known to go off on the occasional rant on this site, I consider myself to be fairly rational and somewhat positive. I know a couple of friends and family members who might be spewing their coffee out about right now, but I normally don’t overreact to things – especially when it comes to moves made by IndyCar. Today might be an exception.
Once Again, the Plot Thickens

I missed something a couple of weeks ago. Amid all of the hoopla surrounding Tony Kanaan last week, and whether he had already been signed by Arrow McLaren SP (AMSP) for the 2023 Indianapolis 500 or another team – somehow I missed the fact that NTT Data was moving from Chip Ganassi Racing (CGR) to AMSP. If there is drama, McLaren has to be involved. By the way, Tony Kanaan confirmed on Tuesday that he will be driving for AMSP in next year’s 500.

When it comes to sports, few topics are as polarizing as that of TV sports announcers. Now I’m not saying that the resulting disagreements are anything like political arguments have become lately, where friendships end and some people refuse to get together for Thanksgiving; but the variety of opinions on TV announcers are wide-ranging.
