If the word “chaos” had been a drinking game, while watching the Chevrolet Grand Prix of Detroit, there would’ve been few people left that were still coherent enough to watch the end. Ironically, that was the best part. Scott Dixon avoided enough chaos to make it to the front on fuel strategy, then held off a teammate, a former teammate and overcame a lapped car on his way to his fifty-eighth career victory and assuming the points lead. It was not a bad day for a driver, who quietly qualified in the fifth starting spot and was not really considered a factor – until he was. Sooner or later, we are going to learn to never give up on Scott Dixon.

The dust has yet to settle from the 108th Running of the Indianapolis 500, and The NTT IndyCar Series is on to another race. After a torrid week, it was a weekend of redemption for Team Penske. I don’t know how the whole P2P debacle is going to turn out, but after being surrounded by it it all week and then this weekend – I can tell you I’m about sick of hearing and talking about it. I’m not quite sure what it looked like on television, but the Children’s of Alabama was an extremely fun race to see in-person. There was mayhem near the back of the field, in the first turn of the opening lap. After that, things settled down to the point I was afraid things were going to get processional.

Most of you that have followed this site for a while, know that I don’t do many interviews. I can probably count on one hand how many actual sit-down one-on-one interviews I have done in the near-fifteen years of this site – and they all occurred within about a six-month period in 2011. IndyCar CEO Randy Bernard, Sarah Fisher and Ed Carpenter were all done in spring of 2011. That summer, IndyCar asked me to meet Indy Lights driver Josef Newgarden in Nashville and interview him.
