There are still five open seats remaining in the NTT IndyCar Series for 2025; Two at Dale Coyne Racing (DCR), two at Juncos Hollinger Racing (JHR) and one at Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing (RLL). There is still a good chance that Romain Grosjean will end up returning to the No. 77 at JHR – possibly with Conor Daly as a teammate. But the other four seats are fairly wide-open.

The Times They Are a-Changin’

This past Sunday was a dreaded day, by many. Others, like me, never give it much thought. It was the day of the time change from Daylight Saving Time (DST) back to Standard Time. Each year, there is a groundswell of support to either abolish DST or establish it year-round. It probably won’t surprise anyone to learn that I’m in favor of neither. There is a new hazard that goes along with being a driver in the NTT IndyCar Series that drivers just a generation ago would have never dreamed of – social media campaigns. I’m not talking about managing a Twitter account, which drivers can do at their leisure or even pay others to do it for them.

We also marked the passing of Tony Renna, who was fatally injured in a test at IMS in 2003. The week before that, we remembered Dan Wheldon who perished in a crash at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on October 16, 2011.

Another Passing of Note

The IndyCar world lost a giant last week, yet many newer fans hardly knew who he was. Bob Riley passed away last week at the age of 93. Does that still not ring a bell? How about a mention of Riley & Scott? Does that name jog a few cobwebs out of your memory? Don’t feel bad. I spoke to a few people last week, who I consider pretty hard-core IndyCar fans. They had faint memories of the Riley & Scott IRL chassis, but they couldn’t recall much else about Bob Riley.

An Update on The IMS Museum

Posted in IndyCar on October 25, 2024 by Oilpressure

We are approaching the one-year anniversary of the closing of the IMS Museum, for their eighteen-month renovation project. The museum closed after the first weekend in November last fall. I’m not that good at math, but I’m guessing that would mean we are about six months away from re-opening.
