It seems like it wasn’t that long ago that the fifth edition of the Music City Grand Prix (MCGP) last ran. If you look at the calendar, you realize that it has not yet been a year. For the past two seasons, the MCGP served as the season finale. In 2024, it was run in mid-September. Last season, it was run at the end of August. So if you think it’s odd to be running this event this early, you’re right. But if you go back to the 2000s when IndyCar ran at Nashville Superspeedway, this was the date when it always ran.

For the past week, I think I have watched more Tony Kanaan interviews on You Tube than I have in the past fifteen years or so. He was a guest on Hinch and Rossi’s podcast. There was almost an hour long interview with Marshall Pruett; and David Land had a two-parter where he spread his interview over two episodes, which was probably smart. There were also a couple of interviews on channels that I don’t follow.

If Arrow McLaren was on a campaign to be talked about as much as possible over the past two weeks, they have succeeded. It all started at Road America two weeks ago, when Christian Lundgaard had an improbable last to first drive to win his second race of the season. He followed that up with winning the pole for the Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio on Saturday. Pato O’Ward had a brilliant drive to win at Mid-Ohio on Sunday, with Lundgaard finishing a close second.

It has been nearly two weeks since I last posted here. I’ll promise that was not planned, it just sort of happened. That would sound better if there was some family emergency or something, but there wasn’t (thank goodness). My excuse is really rather flimsy – summertime activities just got in the way.
