Even the the biggest skeptic would have a hard time arguing that Sunday’s Snap-On Milwaukee Mile 250 was not a tremendous success. Considering the event had been trimmed down from two races in 2024, to one single race for this season – the crowd was very impressive. If the NTT IndyCar Series keeps putting on shows like they did yesterday; and the crowds keep showing up – I think this reboot of IndyCar at The Milwaukee Mile might actually have a chance of sticking this time.

We are nearing one of the most anticlimactic ends to an IndyCar season that I’ve ever seen. From the season-opener at St. Petersburg, Alex Palou let everyone know that he was the man to beat (again) in his quest for a fourth title in five seasons. In winning two of his titles (2021 and 2024), Palou waited until the final race of the season to clinch his championships. In 2023, he became the first driver to clinch the title before the season finale since Dan Wheldon clinched his 2005 title by simply starting the penultimate race of the season at Watkins Glen (or Sébastien Bourdais in Champ Car in 2007). Palou clinched his 2023 title at Portland, before heading to Laguna Seca for the season finale.
The Sad Summer Saga of Will Power

The saga of Will Power’s summer took another interesting turn this past weekend when he became the only Team Penske driver to win a race this season. With two races to go in the NTT IndyCar Series season; Will Power currently sits in sixth in the championship standings, while teammates Scott McLaughlin and Josef Newgarden are eleventh and eighteenth respectively – yet Power is the one whose future is in question.
Portland Preview

Greetings from 38,000 feet! As I type this on Thursday, Susan and I are on a flight to the Pacific Northwest. Unfortunately, it’s not what you think. We are not headed to Portland for the Bitnile.com Grand Prix of Portland – the site of this weekend’s NTT IndyCar Series race. Instead, our ultimate destination is Boise, Idaho – to see my one and only grandchild. He turned three in June, and this will be only my third time to see him.

My Thursday morning at work looked like it was going to be fairly uneventful. I was going to be gathering information for month-end reports to be done today. I answered a few e-mails, then headed for the break-room for a cup of coffee. When I returned to my office, I sat down and checked my personal e-mail. It was there that I saw an e-mail from IndyCar Communications.
