Newgarden Finally Wins in Nashville

What a race! If you ever wondered why people keep harping about more ovals, look no further than the Borchetta Bourbon Music City Grand Prix at Nashville Superspeedway. First of all, congratulations to Nashville native Josef Newgarden for winning today’s race on his home track. Victory in Nashville had been evading Newgarden, but today he was able to close the deal.

Good morning from another sun-drenched day at Nashville Superspeedway. Yesterday afternoon was warmer than expected for practice and qualifying. Today will most likely be the same, but possibly a couple of degrees cooler. I’ll take this any day to dodging raindrops at an oval.

Nashville Saturday Wrap-up

What a perfect day at the race track! First of all, my Tennessee Vols won – beating Syracuse 45-26. While that was going on, we got to watch an interesting qualifying session that say David Malukas come up just short for the second week in a row. This time it was Pato O’Ward knocking Malukas off of the pole. Once again, Malukas will start on the outside of the front-row. And no, that is not called the outside pole, as I heard someone say today.

Welcome to Nashville Superspeedway!

Welcome to a sunny and warm Nashville Superspeedway. There is some good and bad things  about attending a race in your hometown. The good is that it’s great staying in your own bed each night. The bad is that our bed is 51-miles from the track. There are also more distractions at home when you are trying to get out the door – feeding the dogs and ourselves, along with everyday life. Consequently, we didn’t get  into the media center until just as IndyCar practice started.

Nashville Preview

Before we get started previewing this year’s season’s finale, I probably need to establish something. In case some don’t know, I live in Nashville and have for the past 25 years or so. Except for three years in the late 90s when I lived in Charlotte, NC; I have been a lifelong Tennessean. That’s why you will see me refer to Nashville as here in this post. I just wanted to clear that up before anyone got confused.
