Welcome to a rain-soaked Worldwide Technology Raceway, just across the Mississippi River from downtown St. Louis. As I’m sure you are well aware, the track is in an extended rain delay. We left Nashville around 6:30 am, knowing we would not make the opening practice. We were on I-57 at 10:00 am, when I pulled up Peacock to listen to practice, I heard Kevin Lee say it was pouring at the track, and everything was on hold. That actually worked out for us, since we were no longer going to miss any track activity.

The Bommarito Automotive Group 500 at World Wide Technology Raceway (WWTR) at Gateway takes place this weekend. This is normally where I would say that Susan and I are on our way there. With a lot of bombshells and unexpected twists and turns, this silly season could get wild and possibly ugly in some circumstances. Last week’s announcement, however, was no bombshell. Unfortunately, most fans saw this one coming.

This is a post that probably will do nothing more than identify me as an old man. Earlier this week, I used that opportunity to catch up on last week’s Beyond the Bricks with Jake Query and Mike Thomsen, which ran every night last week before the Brickyard Weekend.

Things Just Got a Lot More Silly

I am a little late to the party on this, as we were in Indianapolis over the weekend, when this news first broke. I was focused on the Gallagher Grand Prix, and also wanted to give things a few days to settle down to see if my initial opinion had changed from when I first heard about it on Friday afternoon.
