On Friday, we got confirmation on what has been rumored for a couple of weeks – JR Hildebrand will pilot the No. 11 Chevrolet-powered Dallara for AJ Foyt Enterprises on all of the ovals this season, beginning with this weekend’s Xpel 375 at Texas Motor Speedway.

The devil is in the details. An e-mail came across on Wednesday morning announcing that Dierks Bentley was the main musical act for Legends Day. I saw the subject line, maybe read a couple of sentences and thought “OK, that’s a pretty strong name to be bringing in.” I read no further.

No Post Today

There is no post today, for a couple of reasons. First, I had a bout of diverticulitis a couple of days ago, and I’m still feeling a little woozy and not over it yet. If you deal with this condition yourself, you know what I’m talking about. Far more importantly, Susan visited with her hematologist on Monday. Thursday morning, the NTT IndyCar Series announced that the new 2.4-liter twin-turbocharged engine with hybrid technology was being pushed back a year. The engine was to make its debut at the beginning of the 2023 season, and the development is continuing to be right on schedule. The problem? The supply chain issues that have been plaguing our country and the world for the last several months.

This past Monday, Susan and I were on the road back to Nashville, after spending the weekend at the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. When you’ve had a fun weekend like we did, it’s always a little sad heading back home to the reality that exists outside of the weekend racing bubble. We were probably about a hundred miles north of Tampa on I-75, when we were saddened even more, when Susan saw on Facebook that Danny Ongais had passed away.
