From time to time, I have mentioned some of the Facebook groups I belong to that are devoted to the NTT IndyCar Series and/or the Indianapolis 500. For the most part, I enjoy all of them. I have learned a lot from them and many of the groups offer rare photographs I have never seen before.

No media over-hypes things, like sports media. They have the power to make or break events and careers, by over-promoting a sporting event or a potential career to the point that neither can ever lived up to the lofty and unrealistic expectations that have been forced upon the public.

When it comes to the time when I was growing up as a racing fan, I consider myself very lucky. From 1965 through 1972, I missed only one Indianapolis 500 – and that was in 1966, when my father took my uncle and grandfather instead of us kids.

NBC released the 2021 TV schedule for the NTT IndyCar Series this past week. There were a few surprises, most of them positive. There was one that prompted questions from a few fans and a glaring omission.

This is a slight revisit to a topic I dwelled on years ago. I don’t think I wrote an entire post about it, but I probably devoted a couple of paragraphs to it. I’ll admit that I have a lot of pet-peeves, but this is one that had always bothered me. The NTT IndyCar Series was one of the worst offenders of this topic and I was complaining about them whenever it was I last rambled on about it. I don’t claim that they listened to me and reversed course, but they are no longer an offender as some sporting leagues are.
Admitting I was Wrong…Again

It’s never fun to admit when you are wrong. If you were to talk to my wife, she would go so far as to say I have an insatiable desire to be right all of the time. While I think that may be an exaggeration, I do find it hard to eat crow and admit I was wrong. Then again, I think most people are that way. It seems I’ve been proven wrong a lot lately – at least more than I care for.
Renewing Personal May Traditions

Those that follow me on Twitter (@Oilpressureblog) know that I usually do a monthly countdown to the Indianapolis 500 every month of every year. This year, the Indianapolis 500 runs on its traditional date of May 30. That’s great for traditionalists like me, but it makes it difficult to say it will run exactly three months from today, when there is no such thing as February 30. So, I guess we can sort of say that the 105th Running of the Indianapolis 500 will take place exactly three months from tomorrow.
