In the interest of full disclosure, I wrote today’s post last weekend. When I have time, I sometimes write things ahead of time. If something changes in the IndyCar world after I write it, I go back and edit the parts I need to. After everything that has happened over the past forty-eight hours, I should probably just re-write the entire post. But as soon as I did that, things would change again. As I edit this on Thursday night, the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg is still on. It will be run in front of no fans and only essential personnel, but it is currently scheduled to take place on Sunday. But as we’ve seen this week – a lot can happen between now and then.

The 2019-20 offseason has officially ended. This is Race Week and we are only about 48-hours from the first practice session of the 2020 NTT IndyCar Series season. Rather than do a team-by-team breakdown, I think I’m going to simply give my opinion on which teams and drivers will provide us some surprises – both positive and negative – before giving my not-so-educated guess on who will win the championship.
This Won’t Happen Again

Over the years, I’ve written about how much stock I put into listening to the fans. Once unification took place in 2008, I felt that the IndyCar administration at the time was guilty of not listening to the fans. From that point and until Randy Bernard came on board as CEO in 2010 – IndyCar seemed to ignore what the fans wanted and only did what they saw fit.
“Ford v Ferrari”: A Review

Most likely, I was one of the few racing fans remaining on the planet that had not seen Ford v Ferrari, by the time we watched it last weekend. The film was released in theaters back in November. For the past three months, I had people that knew I was a race fan telling me what a great movie this was. I also saw where true racing fans were praising it as well, so I knew that it had to be good.

First of all, I want to thank everyone who expressed their concern for us after the deadly tornado that ripped through Nashville in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Several of you sent messages of concern for our safety through Facebook, Twitter and e-mail. I hope that I responded to each one of you, letting you know that we were fine. We suffered no damage at our house, and we both actually slept through the tornado that hit about 1:00 am on Tuesday.
A Legitimate Question About the Aero Screen

Much to the chagrin of my wife Susan, I spent most of Saturday afternoon watching Day Two of the Open Test from COTA that took place on February 12. I never got to see any of this, because I had an extremely busy day at the day-job and we flew out that evening to go on our cruise. Keep in mind, I wasn’t sitting there glued to the TV all day long – but I had it on throughout the day. I was doing other chores either outside or other parts of the house, but I would sometimes sit and watch and even dose off a little bit. Is there a better way to spend a cold Saturday in late February?
