Much has been made of Honda’s lack of durability that was on display for the three weekends in the Month of May and bled over into this past weekend in Detroit. Heading into the Indianapolis 500, there had been seven Honda engine failures throughout the month including the Grand Prix, practice and qualifying. There were three more during the Indianapolis 500. In Sunday’s race, James Hinchcliffe had his second engine failure in a little more than a week. Let’s just assume it’s fair to question the reliability of the Honda engine.

I find it fascinating that the Verizon IndyCar Series can race on the same 2.36 mile stretch of pavement over a twenty-four hour period, have two distinctly different races yet come up with the same car in victory lane both days. Odd as it seems, that is exactly what happened this past weekend at Belle Isle in the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix.
Rookie Of The Year – No Easy Choice

I don’t have a vote, but I have gone on record as saying I would have voted for Ed Jones, if I did. But when looking at the criteria, I could also make a strong case for Fernando Alonso, who eventually won it. I thought that you couldn’t go wrong either way. Based on the outrage that erupted on social media Monday evening, I guess I was wrong.
