Well, lo and behold – they got it in. Around noon, I was thinking we had gone all this way to not see a race. We had fun, regardless – but the race was what we came for. The general topic of conversation among all the media types was whether or not the Verizon IndyCar Series would return in early May or July to run this race. As it turns out, the bad weather stayed away long enough to get an official race in, albeit a timed one.
A Soggy Day At NOLA

Welcome to Race day at a very soggy, and somewhat miserable, NOLA Motorsports Park. When I first woke up this morning, I immediately checked the forecast. It didn’t look too bad – rain from 7:00-9:00, and then cloudy from 9:00 until 3:00. Well, it’s 10:00 as I type and it is an absolute downpour. When we arrived on-site, Susan and I decided it would be smart to sit and the car and let the rain subside. It was not a good move. The constant drizzle we were hoping to avoid morphed into a downpour. After about fifteen minutes of watching it rain harder and harder, we finally grabbed our gear and made a run for it. At least it didn’t quit right after we got inside. It’s still pouring.
Qualifying A Wash – Literally

After a curious delay for lightening, the Verizon IndyCar Series attempted to qualify for tomorrow’s Grand Prix of Louisiana at NOLA Motorsports Park. They got partially through the second group of the first round before a huge clap of thunder shook the whole place. The on-board camera from Charlie Kimball’s car caught it. That pretty much brought things to a halt. We waited about thirty minutes before IndyCar officials determined that the giant red and yellow cell was here to stay.
Still Somewhat Sunny At NOLA…For Now

Believe me, I’m not bashing those that make their living as weather prognosticators, but so far they have thankfully missed it today. This morning, you would have thought that we would be wading in water to our ankles based on what we were reading. I wouldn’t call this a clear blue sky. It’s more what I would call a very bright overcast. From what we had been warned about, I’ll take it.
Good Morning From NOLA

Good morning from a muggy and sticky NOLA Motorsports Park in Avondale, Louisiana. It was raining when we got up this morning, but it is currently dry…for the moment. The forecast for today actually looks better than it has for the past few days. The trade-off for that? Tomorrow’s looks worse – far worse.
