On Friday, we first started hearing reports that IndyCar CEO Mark Miles was going to unveil a major facelift for Qualifying Weekend for the Indianapolis 500. The Month of May was already going to look drastically different with the Grand Prix of Indianapolis set to kick off the month by running on the infield road course. I wondered what other sacred traditions would be kicked to the curb.

This post does have a definite racing connection, so please bear with me. Last Saturday night, I was watching as my Tennessee Vols were being completely dismantled by Missouri, by a score of 31-3. In the middle of the second quarter, I took to Twitter out of frustration. My tweets automatically go to my Facebook page. I don’t really do Facebook. If it doesn’t come from Twitter, I don’t post. My frustration tweet said “Vols laying an egg so far against Mizzou. 17-0 2nd qtr.”
“One Take Only” Wraps Up The 2013 Season

For better or worse, One Take Only returns to this site. For those that have made the wise choice to not watch these in the past, this is the occasional videoblog that is essentially me and my friend John McLallen (JohnMc) sitting and chatting about all things racing. It is uncut, unrehearsed a nd done without any notes or preparation. We simply start the camera and start talking. Sometimes, it shows.
This past weekend, John and I sat out in the backyard and discussed the IndyCar season that just wrapped up, Scott Dixon’s championship and Tony Kanaan’s move to Chip Ganassi Racing. We also speculated on the 2015 season. All in all, it was a nice fall afternoon to do some serious offseason bench-racing.
