Susan got good news at the walk-in clinic in Speedway. Nothing is broken, but she has a condition called costochondritis, which is an inflammation of the rib cartilage, caused by the blow she received last week. She got a shot of Toradol and a prescription for turbocharged ibuprofen and was sent on her way.

Fortunately, we missed no track activity. It was still drying when we got here. Shortly after we arrived, Group 1 went out for a fifteen minute session. About halfway through the session, Max Chilton lost it in Turn Two, did a complete rotation and hit the SAFER barrier with the nose of the car. He climbed out of the car safely and was cleared to drive after the mandatory trip to the infield care center. He had completed only two laps and had just turned a lap of 228.359 mph.

Only twenty-one cars took part in the practice. Alexander Rossi had the top speed of the practice at 231.249. The run for the Fast Nine starts at 2:20 local time and will run through 7:00. Those in the running for the pole will be playing for keeps. Those not will be going through the motions in their run today before angling for position tomorrow. We should see how much if any, the Chevys have been sandbagging. If they Fast Nine is composed of mostly Penske and Ganassi cars, we’ll know they were sandbagging. If Hondas make up a good percentage, we’ll know Honda may be for real.
