Tying the Bow on the 2026 Indianapolis 500

One thing we learned this month, there is another location for Long’s Donuts that we were previously unaware of – in Southport, just south of Indianapolis. We stopped there on our way out of town for our first Long’s visit of the month, before leaving Indianapolis for good. Fortunately, our trip home was very uneventful. That’s the way I like it. I am hopeful that we might return to Indianapolis before next May (maybe a Titans/Colts game?), if not it will be a long eleven months.

As promised, I wanted to come back for one more Indianapolis 500 post for the month and share some of Susan’s photos from Race Day. Again, thanks to everyone who followed along with us all month. It was sort of an odd month, but it really ended with a bang with such an outstanding finish. After today, I will now go back to a more sporadic schedule – but I will be back Friday for my Detroit Preview. Please check back then. (All photos by Susan Phillips)

Well done Susan for getting nearly sprayed with milk! Great pics. Thanks.

  2. I have to say, as someone who has only been to the speedway once, not because I don’t love it but because I hate crowds and dealing with parking and all that. I do want to attend the race at some point in my life (I’ve only been to qualifying). But, for over a decade at this point, I have really lived through you in May, and I thank you for sharing so much! Now the letdown for another year just dreaming about May again.

Thanks for the great coverage and thanks to Susan for the excellent pics!

  4. Fantastic coverage as always! It’s an Indy 500 tradition to check in at OilPressure every day in May. I’m happy I got the chance to say hello during that red flag, I’ll make sure to stop by next year! -Sam in StL

    • I’m glad you did too! I appreciated you stopping to chat. We sit in those Stand A seats every year. They are close to where we sat while growing up in the 60s. If you sit there regularly, we will see you next year.

  5. Great shots, Susan.

Thank you for another great month of coverage, George!

  6. thanks George and Susan. the only thing that could follow that race is, of course, Detroit!
