GP Qualifying Postponed Until Saturday
![]()
Good evening from a wet and soggy Indianapolis Motor Speedway. We actually arrived at The Workingman’s Friend before Noon today, but the place was very busy. It took a while to get fed, but it was well worth it. Unfortunately we didn’t’ get out of there until around 1:30. We arrived at the track just as Practice Two was wrapping up.
I texted my friend Mike Silver, of The Pit Window, after Practice One and asked if anything of significance happened. He said no, and said some Spaniard set the fastest time. I made a gamble that we would not miss anything of significance for Practice Two. Apparently we didn’t, as the said Spaniard set the fastest time in the afternoon session.
Susan wanted to go to a gift shop, after we got settled. We ended up going to three. She bought herself a few items, and we got something for my grandson who we will see in about six weeks.
Susan then wanted to see the commemorative brick that we got each other for Christmas. I had found it when I was up here for the test. We finally found it – buried behind a concession stand that looks like it will be there for the month. At least they were nice enough to let us back there to see it.
Shortly afterwards, Susan went back to the Media Center, and I headed to the Garage Area. She made the wise move. Shortly after I got there, it started raining. I didn’t run, but I was walking quickly and I didn’t get too wet. That was probably about 4:00. Qualifying was slated to start at 5:30. They evaluated the track for what seemed like forever. They finally decided to postpone Qualifying until tomorrow at 10:45 am EDT, and the morning warm-up has been cancelled.
I am assuming that since the morning warm-up had been scheduled for FS1, that Qualifying will be there – but I don’t know that. Check your local listings.
That’ll do it for us tonight. We are going to meet a friend at Dawson’s, and then head to the hotel for an early evening. Please check back here tomorrow.
