Hello, It’s Been a While

geothumbnail10

It’s been a while since I’ve posted here. That’s not by design. Yep, you guessed it. It’s Susan’s health again. She was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday Oct 8 and it has been a trying few days. She was originally admitted for anemia, but they also found her to be in acute renal failure and that has been the issue we have been dealing with. She had kidney issues before, back in January. But as recently as August, her kidney numbers were normal. The trouble with beating a deadly cancer is that the cure (chemo) is almost as damaging as the cancer itself. It is essential poison that is poured into your body, and the effects show up a few years later.

After a blood transfusion on Wednesday night and two more unit’s on Sunday, she was released about 7:30 last night. I actually wrote the majority of this Sunday afternoon from the hospital, and updated the previous sentence late last night. They suspect the root of her problems stem from the auto-immune disorder she was diagnosed with in early 2022, a year after her last chemo treatment.

The good thing is, there is not a ton of stuff going on in the IndyCar world. A lot of currently non-IndyCar drivers are testing. Some are under serious consideration for immediate employment, while others are simply testing the IndyCar waters. I do think Caio Collet may be headed for the second car at AJ Foyt Racing, and there may be another driver that is testing that might join the 2026 grid. There are still a few open seats and Rinus VeeKay is still unemployed. We will see what comes of that in the next week or so.

Maybe the most intriguing name that is testing is Mick Schumacher – son of Michael – at Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing. Devlin DeFrancesco fulfilled most people’s expectations in 2025 of being nothing more than a backmarker, and I think the No. 30 car is up for grabs.

This post is also my first post not using my usual blogging software. My hope is that it looks the same. I won’t know until I hit "Publish". Anyway…I didn’t want to go too long without posting. Hopefully, we will get Susan back on her feet soon and I can get a little more focused on less important things. Until then…please keep Susan in your prayers.

Prayers for Susan and for you too, George. Post looks the same to me, I’m glad cars are firing up this week even if only for testing.

I’ll keep Susan in my prayers. Hope she gets better soon. I think of you and her often as I fight my own cancer battle.

I didn’t notice any typo’s etc. in this posting, so I think that’s a good thing.

Are you counting the days to retirement? Thanks for posting when you can.

  7. Hang in there Phillips family! So sorry to hear of Susan’s latest medical setback. Sending positive vibes from up here. Hope she’s back on her feet and feeling better soon!
