Welcome to the Milwaukee Mile!

Contrary to what I posted early this morning, Susan and I are now ensconced in the Milwaukee Mile media center. Many of you commented here and social media. I received a call from IndyCar around 10:15 this morning letting me know that they had created a couple of spaces for us. That’s fine, we don’t require a lot. So now, we will be back on our normal race weekend posting  schedule. All is well.

This track is as charming as I thought it would be. The history is oozing from this place. Iowa Speedway may have all of the amenities, but it doesn’t have the history.

I have already caught myself doing what I normally do at IMS. I look at certain sections of the track and my mind goes back to yesteryear, when certain historic racing events took place. This place shares many of the same ghosts that IMS does – Rex Mays, Wilbur Shaw, Rodger Ward, Lloyd Ruby, Al and Bobby Unser, Jim Clark, etc. The list goes on and on.

Like IMS, I am amazed at how much banking there truly is here. After watching races from Milwaukee for decades, I have finally gotten to see the banking up-close and in-person. The first thing I told Susan was “Hey, there really is some banking here”. On television, it looks completely flat – much like IMS. You really have to see it in-person to know that it’s there.

The Indy NXT cars are currently on-track. They’ve had at least one incident – Reece Gold tagged the wall, but is seemingly unhurt.

It rained here overnight, and we’ve heard some complaining about how muggy it is. It is currently 78°. Every day this week in Nashville, the temperature has exceeded 100°. While it is unpleasant for some here, we are in heaven. It is currently overcast, but the clouds are supposed to clear out later this afternoon and be pretty for the weekend. In fact, Sunday’s high is supposed be 75°. Not bad.

We keep hearing that we need to try the cream puffs here. I’m certainly up for it. Between finishing this post and the start of IndyCar practice, we will find where they are sold and check them out.

We are going to head out and catch the IndyCar practice and take in the ambience of this track. I will be back here after the IndyCar practice. Susan is working on a post right now to post for tomorrow.

Once again…thanks to IndyCar for arranging for us to have a spot in the media center. It is greatly appreciated. Please check back later.

I’m glad Indycar made room for you all in the media center and look forward to your coverage of the weekend.

78 degrees and muggy sounds like heaven. Given the last couple weeks where I am, I was loving 80 degrees and overcast while walking this morning, even with the 200% humidity we always have.
