My Photos From the Sonsio Grand Prix
If you have read this site for a while, you know that I count on my wife, Susan, to serve as the photographer for this site. She has always had a good eye for a good photo, plus she uses a real camera (Nikon) to take photos. I have to rely on my iPhone 11 that was new way back in 2019.
Most of you also know that she was sick for a couple of years. I use the term “was” because she has been continually improving since fall of 2022. During that time, she was unable to attend most races. Not only was I dealing with the emotions of her illness and her absence from races – I also had to rely on my poor iPhone camera and my even poorer photographic skills.
If you’ve followed this site through the weekend of the Sonsio Grand Prix, or even Barber; you probably saw what I think are excellent photographs from her.
Today we don’t have that. When we got out on the grid yesterday before the race, we took the obligatory pre-race selfie – and then she took off to take her photos. I had my phone with me, so I decided I would take a few myself.
While I think my photos are decent, they don’t measure up to Susan’s. I have posted them below. Please come back on Monday, when I will have my usual Random Thoughts post.
I would like to take this time to wish Susan and all of the moms a very Happy Mother’s Day. I offered to take Susan to Café Patachou in downtown Indianapolis for Mother’s Day this morning. Do you want to know what she said she would prefer instead? Breakfast at Charlie Brown’s. What a woman! no wonder we seem to be made for each other.

We always celebrate Mother’s Day at Charlie Browns. Sounds perfect. We will be there too although I’m guessing a bit later. Zach will sleep all morning if I let him. Happy Mother’s Day Susan.

I can’t believe you didn’t offer to take her to The Cake Bake Shop in Carmel.
