As most of you know, I live by the mantra “Change is Bad”. In March of 2019, John McLallen and I did our last One Take Only for about three years. So Paul Dalbey of Fieldof33.com and I decided to do a video blog that combined our two sites – Hence the ultra-clever name Two Sites Unite.

This was in the days before the pandemic, when none of us had ever heard of Zoom, Microsoft Teams or Google Meet. We started out using Skype and stayed with it. It seemed a little primitive, but it did the job. Going against my mantra, I decided to branch out. At work, I’ve always been partial to Zoom, I don’t like Microsoft Teams for a variety of reasons. And I had very little experience with Google Meet.

I knew for the free account, Zoom limited calls to 40 minutes. A couple of weeks ago at work, I was on a call with Google Meet and it was crystal clear video and audio, and you didn’t need to install anything, It was super easy to use. Unfortunately, you have to pay for the premium version to record calls. I decided we would go with Zoom with the free account, and just keep things under forty minutes. Bad idea!

I kept an eye on the clock, but they ended the call early – as you can tell at the end, when we are abruptly cut off. We’ll learn if there is aext time. While the picture seemed clearer, the audio was not quite as good as Skype. Plus there is a lot of black, blank area – instead of utilizing all of the screen.

Anyway, it is different. What is not different is that we talk a lot of hard-core IndyCar – including the 2023 Indianapolis 500. We also look ahead to what we can expect for 2024. We also get into a pointless conversation regarding the difference between a theory and a hypothesis. [sigh]
