Welcome to Barber Motorsports Park!
Welcome to Barber Motorsports Park in sunny and warm Leeds, Alabama. Not surprisingly, we got away a little later than planned (7:20 am vs the planned 6:00 am). In all fairness, I was a little delayed myself.
What was not expected was that we had sunny skies most of the way down here. Around the Tennessee-Alabama state line, the skies looked threatening; but they produced no rain. By the time we got here, we were greeted with warm temps and beautiful skies with a few puffy white clouds.
Another pleasant surprise was a new Buc-ee’s along the way, just south of the state line. In 2021, we visited the Buc-ee’s built just down the street from the track. It was our first experience with Buc-ee’s. We made an unexpected stop for breakfast. I had a brisket taco, while Susan had a more traditional sausage biscuit. Something tells me that will not be our last Buc-ee’s visit of the weekend. If you’ve never visited a Buc-ee’s; you’re missing out. It is the world’s largest gas station, with delicious food (especially brisket) and the cleanest restrooms you’ll ever see.
Right now, the Porsche Sprint Challenge cars are on the track practicing. The IndyCar practice rolls off at 2:40 pm CDT (local time).
Susan and I are going to go grab a bite to eat, then head for the IndyCar paddock before practice. Please check back here later today after practice, for a quick wrap-up. In the meantime, follow us on Twitter for updates, videos and photos. Follow me at @Oilpressureblog and Susan at @MrsOilpressure. Check back later this afternoon.
