Welcome to IMS!
Good morning from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. I had an uneventful trip up this morning from Nashville, which is the way I like it. I knew I would miss the first practice, so I was in no hurry.
There is always something magical about that first time in May to walk into this facility. The sun is shining and it’s actually quite warm. The facility seemed to sparkle more than usual in the morning sunlight as I walked in from the media parking lot. Hearing sounds of the US F2000 cars on-track, added to the excitement of walking in.
Alex Palou led the first practice of what will be a very busy day. Callum Ilott continues to impress as he was the second-quick. Will Power, Graham Rahal and Felix Rosenqvist rounded out the Top-Five.
I’m going to get a quick bite to eat, then head out to the second practice at 12:45 EDT. I’ll be back here after the practice.

Walking towards a race track and listening to the sound of the engines from the outside always makes my heart race and I immediately start walking faster. What a good feeling.
