Saturday Morning at Road America

Good morning from another beautiful day at Road America! It’s pretty much a carbon-copy of the weather we had yesterday, except it’s slightly warmer. It is currently 66-degrees, with an expected high of 73. The only negative is what is predicted for Sunday – a 90% chance of thunderstorms. I keep thinking back to the Race Day forecast for Indianapolis, and how it was a certainty that the race would be rained out. Let’s hope the weatherman is wrong this weekend also.

Our dinner last night was as good as I remembered. Unfortunately, I got a text in the middle of dinner from our next door neighbor in Nashville. A bad storm had gone through and the wooden privacy fence that separates our driveways completely blew over, snapping the support posts in two. It looks like we’re going to have to deal with an unexpected mess when we get home.

As I type, the Radical Cup is running Race One. I really like the looks and sounds of those cars. Before checking the schedule this week, I had never heard of them. Come to find out, hardly anyone I know up here had either. But they look good and sound even better. They are fun to watch.

Up next is Indy Lights Qualifying, followed by the final practice for the NTT IndyCar Series at 11:00 local time (CDT), which will be available on NBC Sports Gold. IndyCar Qualifying will take place at 3:00 CDT. It will be shown live on NBC Sports Gold and shown delayed at 4:00 on NBCSN.

Yesterday, I met up with “Mike from Vernon Hills” and visited with him for a bit. He won the Trivia Contest for this site three years in a row, and is a regular caller on The Talk of Gasoline Alley with Donald Davidson. It’s always good to catch up with Mike. Today, we plan on meeting up with regular commenter Brandon Wright and his Dad. It’s always good to meet up with the people that support this site.

Susan is still working on her post about our experience with the Track Walk on Thursday. She hopes to have it up sometime early afternoon. I think you will find it interesting. I’ll be back late this afternoon with a wrap up of Practice Three and Qualifying.

That will do it for now. We want to get out to watch the IndyCar practice. But please follow along throughout the weekend on Twitter. You can follow me at @Oilpressureblog and Susan at @MrsOilpressure. Please check back later.

Hi George and Susan. Have you noticed a NBC presence as you wander around? Camera towers, Robin Miller, pit reporters, peacocks, folks in suits, and such. I’m glad you and Susan went back to Schmitty’s Oar House restaurant this year. I have a friend in Fond Du Lac and we always go to Schmitty’s to eat. Fond Du Lac is French for “foot of the lake”.
