Good Morning From Barber!

Good morning from Barber Motorsports Park!. We were in rain most of the way down, but the rain subsided about twenty miles north of Birmingham. It’s still gray and rather foggy, but the forecast is for the clouds to give way for sunshine around noon.

Unfortunately, the "beautiful facility" is not quite as beautiful this weekend. The race is three weeks earlier than last year’s. The grass is still a little brown and the leaves are not fully on the trees just yet. Worst of all, the azaleas and dogwoods haven’t bloomed just yet. They are probably a week or so away. Still, it’s a very nice and clean facility.

My posts may be limited. For whatever reason, there is a larger media crunch than usual here and the media center has open seating. Something tells me when the major news outlets get here later on, the few bloggers may be, um, asked to give up their seats. We’ll see.

It’s about 9:00 am as I type. The track is already buzzing. Currently, the MX-V Cup Miatas are out on the track practicing. I’ve seen them at other tracks and they put on a great show. If you ever get a chance to see them, don’t pass it up.

We are going to go show our friend Paul Dalbey around, since he’s never been here before. Please follow Susan and me on Twitter photos and videos throughout the weekend. Follow me at @Oilpressureblog and Susan at @MrsOilpressure. Please check back later.

  1. Those MX5 Cups are some of the best racing on the planet in my opinion. Every race I’ve seen is edge-of-the-seat thrilling stuff from green to checkers. All their races are free on YouTube too, I can’t recommend them enough.
