Greetings From Gateway Motorsports Park
A very leisurely drive this morning turned into a nightmare once I arrived here. I know this ranks up there as a first-world problem, but the credential office where the parking passes are distributed to the media was an absolute clusterf***. Last week at Pocono, I walked in showed my ID, they retrieved an envelope and I was out in about 45 seconds. This took fifty minutes. And it wasn’t because I was just a lowly blogger. Robin Miller and Jim Ayello with the IndyStar were stuck in line with me. So, my first impression was not a great one.
But now for the positive – the actual facility looks very nice. Those that I was in line for so long said the difference between now and the old days is night and day. The infield is a little tight, with all of the MRTI teams in there along with the Verizon IndyCar Series teams, but that’s a good thing.
It was about 1:45 before I finally got situated in the Media Center, which is very nice (if anyone really cares). Susan will join me a little later. The IndyCar practice is at 4:00 this afternoon and qualifying is at 6:30. Now that I’ve checked in, I’m going to go explore since I’ve never been to this track. Check back in after practice and I’ll try and have a post up here.
In the meantime, follow me on Twitter at @Oilpressureblog for instant photos and comments. Please check back later.
