A New Summer Tradition

For the past three years, our good friend Paul Dalbey, formerly of More Front Wing, and his soon-to-be wife have made their way to Music City to visit us each August. Does three years in a row make this a tradition? During the previous two visits, we took advantage of his presence to record another episode of One Take Only – the videoblog of Oilpressure.com. For the past seven years, my friend John McLallen and I have done these video segments to mixed reviews. They are unscripted, unrehearsed and unedited. Some love them, some hate them. There is no middle ground. With Paul on here each August, will this become a new summer tradition?

In this episode, we discuss the current championship battle along with the new car and the upcoming race at Pocono – which Paul and I are going to as we did last year. There is good info in this episode, although it was recorded on this past Saturday morning before the news broke that Mikhail Aleshin had been fired by Schmidt Peterson Motorsports. Such is the risk when you run something like this four days later. But if you have been passing on these, I would ask that you give this one another chance. It’ll be time well spent.

  1. Since it is too early for “Gunsmoke” reruns, I will give this “One Take Only” deal another chance and watch and listen to Slick Oily G and his pals ponder, cogitate, and ruminate about the current state of IndyCar. Time well spent indeed. The locale for this show must be somewhere south of Wisconsin since there is no beer on the table.

    • I will add that while most readers here might agree that IndyCar needs some women race drivers, IMHO the productions values of “One Take Only” would be increased with guest appearances by Kelly and Susan.

  2. Firstly, the vertical ridge is to break up the aero lift when a car gets turned sideways at speed, so it’s here to stay.

Secondly, Hinch does every Honda commercial in Canada – print and video. He’s not cutting that paycheck loose. No way.

Thirdly, never is heard a disparaging word about OTO (and the skys are not cloudy all day). How can you say some people hate it?

    • You would not believe some of the e-mails I’ve gotten over the years, complaining about it and asking why I waste my time and theirs…some of that even comes from my own family members. My thing is; if you don’t like it, go on to something else and come back for the next post. – GP

      • Don’t listen to the Peanut Gallery. Just keep doing your thing …………….

      • Regarding critical comments from your family members: A nanosecond has been described as the amount of time between when you tell a family member of your idea or plan and when they tell you what is wrong with your idea or plan. I doubt if your family is unique in that respect.

I agree with John. I had rather drink the “milk.”

Man, you all do not like that 2018 speedway rear wing… I’ll admit that I would find it less odd if it was slightly higher or if it had a more traditional endplate style, but I like it well enough.
