Something IndyCar Fans Can Be Thankful For

We fans of the Verizon IndyCar Series can be a cynical bunch. We complain a lot and many times for very good reasons. But this week, we reached a milestone that we can all be thankful for. Monday marked six months until the 99th Running of the Indianapolis 500. That means we are now closer to the next one than we are to the memorable finish we witnessed a little more than half a year ago.

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving, then four weeks later is Christmas. One week after that is New Year’s Day. At that point, we are into 2015 and racing will not be far off. I’m very thankful that we passed the six month point to the Indianapolis 500 this past Monday. That will make the next few weeks and months just a little bit warmer.

I’m also thankful that at my ripe old age, I still get to travel to my childhood home and have another Thanksgiving dinner prepared by my mother. She turned ninety this past summer, but is still in excellent health. Susan will help, but have no doubt that the majority of the meal will be cooked by my mother. She wouldn’t have it any other way. Me, I’ll carve the turkey and watch football. For someone who detests change like I do, I find my fifty-first Thanksgiving dinner in the same house to be very comforting. I am very thankful to still be going there after all these years.

Susan, my mother and I want to take this time to wish everyone a very safe and Happy Thanksgiving!

George Phillips

Please Note – As usual, I will take some time off from here over the Thanksgiving holiday. So that I won’t have to spend time behind a keyboard over Thanksgiving, there will be no post here this Friday Nov 28, nor Monday Dec 1. I plan to return here on Wednesday Dec 3. – GP
